Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District sent a letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Council on Environmental Quality Chair Brenda Mallory Wednesday announcing forthcoming legislation establishing Avi Kwa Ame as a National Monument and urging their support.
Washington, D.C. - Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District sent a letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Council on Environmental Quality Chair Brenda Mallory Wednesday announcing forthcoming legislation establishing Avi Kwa Ame as a National Monument and urging their support. The proposed monument would permanently protect nearly 450,000 acres of biologically diverse and culturally significant lands within the Mojave Desert. “A robust coalition of tribes, local communities, including Clark County, Boulder City, Searchlight, and Laughlin, the Nevada Legislature, conservation groups, recreation interests, and other stakeholders are working to establish the Avi Kwa Ame National Monument to permanently protect these treasured lands,” wrote Rep.
