Representative Dina Titus released a statement ahead of the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
Washington, D.C. - Today Representative Dina Titus released the following statement ahead of the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision: “As we celebrate the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we’re reminded that reproductive freedom remains under threat. Last year was one of the worst years for Republican state legislative attacks on women’s health rights since Roe v. Wade was decided. After orchestrated appointments by Sen. McConnell, the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case before the Supreme Court should concern all of us. “I voted to pass the Women's Health Protection Act through the House in September which would codify the constitutional right to an abortion. Reproductive rights are at the heart of gender equality. The people most often blocking access to reproductive rights are cisgender men in positions of power, and the people hurt most by abortion restrictions are those who already face barriers accessing health care —particularly Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), women, and low-wage workers. Reproductive rights shouldn't be up for debate. Forces are working to make this the last anniversary of Roe; defeating them will require all of us to fight.” |
