Titus Champions Fundamental Aviation and Emergency Management Bills

“The work we are doing on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will help improve disaster response, support innovative infrastructure development, and fund workforce training critical to Southern Nevada’s travel economy,” said Rep. Background

 

H.R. 5703, Post-Disaster Mental Health Response Act would:

  • Amend FEMA’s Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program (CCP) so that mental health resources can be provided following Emergency Declarations.

H.R.6270, The Advanced Aviation Infrastructure Modernization Act (AAIM) would:

  • Direct the Secretary of Transportation to establish a pilot program that would provide planning and construction grants to support AAM infrastructure development including vertiports, electric charging and fueling stations, and connecting to existing transportation hubs.
  • Support a more climate friendly and congestion-reducing mode of transportation that is projected to create upwards of 300,000 jobs.

H.R. 7211, Small State and Rural Rescue Act would:

  • Expand and codify the responsibilities of FEMA’s Small State and Rural Advocate when helping state and local officials demonstrate localized impact and apply for federal disaster aid.
  • Direct the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a review on how FEMA mobilizes individual assistance in the aftermath of a disaster.

H.R. 5315, the Drone Infrastructure Inspection Grant Act would:

  • Authorize $100 million in grants through the Department of Transportation to support critical infrastructure inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction projects performed by U.S.-made small-unmanned aircraft systems.
  • Enable state, tribal and municipal agencies to utilize grant funding to purchase, contract for services, or develop program management capability for small-unmanned aircraft systems
  • Authorize $100 million in grants for workforce training and education to position current and future workers to capitalize on the fast-growing drone economy, and to cultivate a diverse workforce.

H.R. 3482, National Center for the Advancement of Aviation Act of 2021 would:

  • Create the National Center for the Advancement of Aviation (NCAA) which will provide scholarships and apprenticeships for aviation-related fields, and serve as a hub for workforce development and training.
  • Address the demands and challenges associated with ensuring a safe and vibrant national aviation system through research, education, and training.
