Titus Joins Secretary Fudge to Highlight Affordable Housing Shortage in Southern Nevada

Las Vegas, Nevada, June 7, 2022 | Sara Severens (202-924-1719)

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Today, Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01) joined the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Marcia Fudge to conduct a roundtable with local elected officials in Las Vegas, NV. The event’s purpose was to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the affordable housing needs of the Southern Nevada community and give HUD an opportunity to share best practices and programs that have been successful in other parts of the country.

“I was happy to welcome Secretary Fudge to Las Vegas today to discuss the needs of my constituents and how we can work together to ensure all Southern Nevadans have affordable housing options,” said Rep. Titus. “Even before the pandemic, Nevada had the largest shortage of affordable rental housing in the nation, and Las Vegas had the most severe shortage of all metropolitan areas. To address this, I helped secure recovery dollars for Nevada, including $500 million for the Home Means Nevada Housing Initiative and $440 million for Clark County, $157 million of which will go to housing assistance programs. These dollars will help Nevadans with rental, mortgage, and utility payments.”
