Las Vegas, NV - Representative Dina Titus, representing Nevada's First Congressional District, announced a $1.3 million investment from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) for the Jackson Avenue Redevelopment Project in Las Vegas's Historic Westside. This initiative addresses longstanding issues of systemic redlining and will help create equitable business development opportunities in the area. Congresswoman Titus submitted a letter in April to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo advocating for the funding’s approval.

"As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee that oversees the Economic Development Administration, I am proud to announce this substantial investment representing a significant milestone for the redevelopment of the Historic Westside.” said Rep. Titus. “This initiative is a testament to our dedication to redressing long standing inequalities, promoting economic growth, and empowering local entrepreneurs and minority owned businesses in Southern Nevada.”

“Jackson Avenue is one of many projects helping us to make progress to improve our neighborhoods and our future,” Las Vegas Ward 5 City Councilman Cedric Crear said. “I grew up on the Westside in Ward 5 and Jackson Avenue was the epicenter for this community, and we are returning this area to greatness. I want to thank our federal delegation for securing these funds to help us bring businesses to the newly refreshed Jackson Avenue that includes widened sidewalks and trees.”
