Washington, DC – Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement on the vote for Speaker:

“I represent a district that values unity and compromise in Congress. Speaker Mike Johnson has embraced some of the most far-right positions in the GOP conference. His support for overturning the 2020 election, advocating for a nationwide abortion ban, opposing same-sex marriage, and voting against expanded benefits for veterans raises serious concerns.

While I am relieved that Republicans have finally selected a Speaker, my primary focus remains serving my constituents in Southern Nevada. It is time for Republicans to work with us to prevent a government shutdown, deliver aid to our foreign allies, and cut costs for families.”
