Rep. Dina Titus Statement on Israel Supplemental Aid Vote
Washington, DC,
November 2, 2023
Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement after voting against the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act: “Our closest and most important ally in the Middle East is under attack, and yet, Speaker Johnson has used one of his first acts as Speaker to prioritize partisanship over support for Israel. This effort to tie Israel’s defense to allowing the wealthy and big corporations evade their tax responsibilities is egregious. Israel is not, nor should it ever be, merely a bargaining chip. “Playing political games with funding for Israel's defense risks setting a damaging precedent and calls our unwavering commitment to this vital ally into question. Unlike the Speaker and his MAGA cronies, I unequivocally support unconditional, supplemental U.S. funding for Israel to defend itself from the evils unleashed by Hamas.” |
