Rep. Titus Announces $2.1 Million for Communities in Schools of Nevada

Washington, DC – Today Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01) released the following statement announcing $2.1 million for Communities in Schools of Nevada. This funding, through the Department of Education’s Full-Service Community Schools Program, will provide Nevada students with holistic, community-based student support programs to promote academic achievement and excellence.

This funding, through the Department of Education’s Full-Service Community Schools Program, will provide Nevada students with holistic, community-based student support programs to promote academic achievement and excellence.

“I’ve had the chance to visit schools across Clark County to see firsthand how our students are being empowered to succeed,” said Rep. Titus. “As a former professor for the University of Nevada system, I know how critical the public education system is to build a strong future for our state. This funding will help connect parents and students to critical programs that help them get ahead, including mental and physical health services, early learning opportunities, and afterschool and summer activities.”


Background

Communities in Schools of Nevada, which serves over 70,000 students across 80 schools in Southern Nevada, was selected to receive $2,123,637 under the Full-Service Community Schools Program at the Department of Education. This program supports nationally significant programs to improve the quality of elementary and secondary education at the state and local levels and help all children meet challenging academic content and academic achievement standards.
