“I am proud to announce the winner and runners-up of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge for Nevada’s First District,” said Rep. Titus. “This competition is a unique opportunity to highlight innovative young minds in Southern Nevada while helping students develop their talents and passions. Our students hold the key to the future, and I look forward to seeing everything that Ryan, Leonardo, and Preston will accomplish.” Final results: 1st - EnounceAI by Ryan Cortenbach from Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Sandy Ridge 2nd - Mathblast Proficiency by Leonardo Zhu from Hyde Park Middle School 3rd - Eyespy by Preston Jones from Pinecrest Academy, Cadence Background The Congressional App Challenge is an academic competition to promote innovation in the fields of science, technology engineering, the arts, and math (STEM). The competition is open to middle school students who live or attend school in Nevada’s First Congressional District. Participating students were asked to develop or design an app on a platform of their choice and submit a video demonstrating the idea, implementation, and impact of the app. Throughout the competition, participating students were given opportunities to engage with various STEM educational partners located in the community to mentor and assist them with the development and design of their app. Each year the winner of the Congressional App Challenge for each Congressional district has their work displayed in the US Capitol Building and featured on the House of Representatives’ website and will have the copyright registration application fees waved through the ARTS Act. |
