Washington, DC – Today Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01), member of the Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security Committees, released the following statement after voting on emergency supplemental appropriations for Israel.

“Israel has the right to defend its people and sovereignty, and I remain committed to providing our closest ally in the Middle East with the security assistance it needs. After Hamas’s gruesome attacks on Israelis on October 7, our support must be ironclad and our commitment to freeing the hostages must be unwavering.

“Tonight’s supplemental funding bill was introduced by House Republicans without consulting Democrats or the White House, and Speaker Johnson has yet again failed to prove he is a good-faith negotiator. This was not a serious, bipartisan effort to support an ally, but rather a cynical way to abandon our partners in Ukraine and Taiwan while neglecting humanitarian aid. I urge my Republican colleagues to work with us to address these issues in a responsible way instead of playing politics with national security.”
