WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01) released the following statement after the House passed a resolution led by Rep. Titus honoring fallen peace officers, including five from Nevada.
“We cannot bring back those we’ve lost, but we can honor the sacrifice they made to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities safe,” said Rep. Dina Titus. “I express my condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of these public servants, and all those mourning the loss of the brave men and women whose duty and sacrifice will be commemorated at this year’s Memorial.” Background House Concurrent Resolution 83 authorizes the use of the Capitol Grounds for the 43rd annual National Peace Officers Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition. As the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, Rep. Titus led this resolution alongside Subcommittee Chairman Scott Perry (PA-10). The Memorial Service, which will be held on May 15th, 2024, will be coordinated with the Architect of the Capitol and the Capitol Police, and will honor law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
