Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-NV1) announced today that UNLV has received $982,000 for equipment to better analyze mineral resources and earthquake hazards in the West.
“Nevada is the third most seismically active state in the country due to the many faults found near the base of its 300-plus mountain ranges,” Congresswoman Titus said. “This grant will give UNLV more tools to conduct tectonic research and identify earthquake hazards which will improve preparedness in areas prone to these natural disasters. UNLV is receiving the $982,000 grant from the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a result of funding Congresswoman Titus helped secure in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024. |
