Rep. Dina Titus, D-NV1, released the following statement today in advance of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday on the Safe Bet Act:
“As the Senate Judiciary Committee meets tomorrow to discuss the state of legal sports betting, I hope the hearing will address not only the challenges facing the rapidly growing sports betting market, but also focus on the tremendous strides the legal industry has made since 2018. Legal sports betting creates jobs across the United States, provides tax revenue for infrastructure, education and community services, and supports ancillary services. This hearing should take into account the advantages that a legal framework provides for responsible gaming and the integrity of players. Whether it is legal or not, people will always gamble and bet on sports. We should be looking for ways to support the legal industry and crack down on illegal operators who contribute nothing to the communities where they operate.” |
