Rep. Titus Votes to Bring Down Health Care Costs

Rep. Dina Titus (NV-01) released the following statement after voting to pass Leader Jeffries’s discharge petition and extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits for three years:

“I was there when the lifesaving Affordable Care Act was passed. I was there when Senator John McCain gave his iconic thumbs down to killing the program. Now I am witnessing another step forward in the fight for affordable health care for Nevadans,” said Congresswoman Dina Titus. “Despite Speaker Johnson’s best efforts to prevent the extension of ACA tax subsidies, House Democrats have successfully passed a three-year extension of these credits, ensuring that Americans do not have to pay crippling rates.”

“But House Republicans should not be let off the hook for passing the cruel, BS Budget Bill that put us in this mess in the first place,” Congresswoman Titus continued. “They voted to force 64,000 Nevadans off of their health insurance because of dramatic premium spikes. Other households that could afford insurance have been forced to pay an additional $3,690 per year. Our seniors and families have suffered because of this Republican policy.”

“As the clean 3-year extension moves to the Senate, it is now up to my colleagues and President Trump to decide whether to stand up for Nevadans or leave thousands of people without the health care they need to survive,” the Congresswoman said.
