I’m voting to prevent another reckless government shutdown.

“While this is not the bill my Democratic colleagues and I would’ve written on our own, I’m voting to prevent another reckless government shutdown,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “In addition to giving federal workers a well-deserved raise, this legislation will force the Department of Homeland Security to finally publish information about people in custody, protect Nevada’s medical marijuana businesses, fully fund child nutrition programs, and make much-needed investments in our highways and airports. Now that Congress has passed legislation to eliminate the threat of a government shutdown, I will work to ensure that we take immediate action to protect our Dreamers and TPS holders.”
Among Congresswoman Titus’s priorities, this spending package:
• Includes a 1.9 percent pay raise for federal civilian workers that overrides the President’s decision to deny them a pay raise.
• Forces the Department of Homeland Security to publish information about the number of people, families, and asylum seekers in custody.
• Prevents ICE from deporting potential child sponsors who are seeking to claim children that were separated from their families at the border.
• Protects Nevada’s medical marijuana patients and businesses from federal government interference.
• Prohibits the destruction of wild horses and burros under control of the Bureau of Land Management.
• Fully funds SNAP and child nutrition programs like the national school lunch and breakfast programs. One in seven Nevadans participate in SNAP, and over 62% of children in Clark County Schools enroll in these child nutrition programs.
