Las Vegas -- Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced that Las Vegas’ Neon Museum received a federal grant to help create a digital library of drawings, renderings, schematics, photos, postcards, and other items relating to Southern Nevada’s most iconic works of art.
The $24,500 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services will allow the Neon Museum to begin digitally archiving its collection of groundbreaking and contemporary artists whose signs and advertisements have become synonymous with the Las Vegas aesthetic.
“With this grant, the Neon Museum is one step closer to showcasing and preserving more artifacts from the artists who decorated the Southern Nevada landscape and captivated millions of visitors over many decades,” Rep. Titus said. “While we’ve come to know and love the museum’s monumental outdoor displays, it’s gratifying to see the commitment to safeguarding the vestiges of the artistic process along with the world-famous collection in the Neon Boneyard. Protecting these items will allow us to tell the Las Vegas story and provide greater insight into our history as a land of aesthetic achievement.”
