Yesterday Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District was elected by members of the House Democratic Caucus to serve as a Regional Member on the powerful Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. Congresswoman Titus will serve as the regional representative for the Mountain West and Pacific Northwest Region which includes Nevada, replacing outgoing member Congressman Peter DeFazio of Oregon. In her role, the Congresswoman will help decide committee leadership and assignments for the 115th Congress and be the voice for the region in policy development for the Democratic Caucus.

“As we face the challenges of the incoming 115th Congress and the uncertainties of a Trump Administration, I will be promoting an agenda that advances bedrock Democratic values like protecting Social Security and Medicare, creating jobs, fixing our broken immigration system, and investing in our crumbling infrastructure. I also look forward to helping our party become more responsive to the needs of rural and small town America. Finally, I will push for our region’s members to get committee assignments which both take advantage of their expertise and allow them to better serve their districts.”

Congresswoman Dina Titus was first elected to Congress in 2008. As the representative for District 1, which is the heart of the Las Vegas Valley, Dina currently serves on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the House Committee on Veterans Affairs where she is the Ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs. In addition, the Congresswoman serves on the Democratic Senior Whip Team and is co-chair of the I-11 Caucus, the Public Works and Infrastructure Caucus, and the Travel and Tourism Caucus.
