Today Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement after the House Appropriations Committee rejected a Republican amendment to restart the licensing process for Yucca Mountain:

“The latest attempt to force nuclear waste down Nevada’s throat has failed and I won’t stop fighting until we put an end to Yucca Mountain once and for all,” said Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-1). “I will continue to work closely with Speaker Pelosi, Governor Sisolak, and Nevada’s Congressional Delegation to make sure this unsafe, unsound project never sees the light of day. Our state does not use nuclear energy, we do not produce nuclear waste, and we should not be forced to store it – not now and not ever.”
