Rep Titus Urges Republican Leaders to Take Action to Prevent Gun Violence

November 6, 2017
How many more innocent lives will be lost in tragedies before the GOP acts?

November 6, 2017

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District issued the following statement to urge Republican leadership to take immediate action to address the gun violence epidemic in our nation.

“It is time Republican leaders respond to tragedy with more than a wink and a nod to the NRA and a moment of silence on the House floor. Churchgoers, school children, concert attendees, and other innocent Americans who have lost their lives cannot be ignored any longer. As we continue to learn new details about the shooting in Sutherland Springs, I am urging Republicans to work with me on legislation to address our federal policies on background checks, bump stocks, high capacity magazines, and other gun-violence-prevention measures. It’s been 35 days since the mass shooting in my congressional district. How many more days must pass and how many more innocent people must die before the GOP is willing to take action?”
