Rep. Dina Titus, a member of the Democratic Steering Committee, announced last evening committee assignments for House Democrats representing Nevada in the 115th Congress. The committee assignments of Reps. Titus, Ruben Kihuen, and Jacky Rosen will give Nevada a voice in a multitude of policy areas and ensure that the state is well positioned to take on the Trump Administration during the 115th Congress. Rep. Titus has been working with U.S. House leadership since December to strategically place House Democrats on committees that will benefit their constituents and the country.

Rep. Titus:  Rep. Titus will be leaving the House Veterans Affairs Committee to join the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She will remain on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“Las Vegas has deep ties with communities from around the world. We are a global tourist and business travel destination and one-third of the residents of District One were born in a different country. I will ensure that we maintain strong relationships with consulates in my district, and I will work to strengthen and improve visa policies for students, visitors, and family members. Finally, given the uncertainty of the Trump administration’s foreign policy, this committee will play a key role in monitoring and enhancing our leadership position in the world. While I will miss working with my colleagues on the VA committee, my office will still devote significant resources to casework and legislation that will benefit veterans across the country.”

Rep. Kihuen: House Financial Services

"I'm excited the Nevada delegation will serve on key committees to challenge the foreign policy of a Trump administration, get our military personnel the resources they need to protect us, and work to ensure that bad actors in our financial system don’t cause another economic recession. I look forward to working with Congresswoman Titus and Congresswoman Rosen to ensure all Nevadans have a fair shot at the American Dream. We will be a great team for Nevada."

Rep. Rosen: House Armed Services Committee

“I am extremely pleased with the assignment of the Armed Services Committee and look forward to working on a bipartisan basis to support our men and women in uniform and to address our national security issues.  Because we have so much Department of Defense infrastructure in Southern Nevada, I strongly believe this is a vital assignment, and I look forward to working each and every day to ensure our nation is secure and prepared to meet any threat.”
