Las Vegas, NV – Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced on Friday the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant of $558,575 to the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe for the Special Diabetes Program for Indians. The program provides funds for diabetes prevention and treatment to tribes nationwide and helps combat a chronic disease that disproportionally affects Native Americans. The Congresswoman is a member of the Congressional Diabetes Caucus and co-sponsor of legislation to bolster public awareness about the disease.
“Native American communities see higher rates of diabetes than many others across the country. This grant will help address this epidemic by providing vital services to the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe.”
