August 6, 2015 Las Vegas, NV - Congresswoman Dina Titus from Nevada’s First District released the following statement today on the National Conference of State Legislatures' (NCSL) approval of a resolution urging the federal government to allow states to determine their own marijuana policies. "I applaud the National Conference of State Legislatures for taking a stand in support of preserving states’ rights and protecting patients and businesses following the laws of Nevada and other states where marijuana use is legal,” said Titus. “As more states join Nevada in adopting medical marijuana laws and accompanying regulations, it is essential that Congress address the issue to ensure consumers and businesses are able to operate without fear of federal prosecution. That's why I'm proud to cosponsor the Respect State Marijuana Laws Act and the Marijuana Businesses Access to Banking Act, and will continue to call on the Department of Justice to ensure tax-payer dollars are not wasted on prosecuting lawful marijuana users in states where it is legal.” |
