Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District joined Democratic Leaders and members of the House Democratic Caucus today to announce the introduction of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act. Titus is an original cosponsor of the bill.
“I am proud to be an original cosponsor of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act, introduced today by House Democrats,” said Titus. “This bill reflects the bipartisan compromise reached by the United States Senate and moves us a step closer to a fairer and more just immigration system.
“America is a land of immigrants, a place of opportunity for those who are willing to work hard.  This bill will help 11 million undocumented immigrants come out of the shadows, spur our economy, protect our workers, and secure our borders.  It will give the tens of thousands of DREAMers in Nevada and others around the country the opportunity to pursue the American dream in the only country they have ever known.
“Now is the time for the House to take up comprehensive immigration reform. It is a moral imperative and an economic necessity that we must get done so the 11 million people who live, work, and raise their families in our country, including over 190,000 people right here in Nevada, can finally come out of the shadows and pursue their American Dream. I urge my Republican colleagues to end their political games, listen to the American people, and get back to work on the issues most pressing to our country.”
