September 3, 2013 Las Vegas, NV - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement on yesterday’s briefing with National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Secretary of State John Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey on President Obama’s request for an Authorization for Use of Military Force against Syria: "Yesterday I participated in a briefing with National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Secretary of State John Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey to discuss the President’s request for an Authorization for Use of Military Force against Syria. During the briefing, we discussed the evidence showing that the Assad Regime used chemical weapons to kill more than 1,000 Syrians and the potential international responses. The President must demonstrate to the American people and Congress that any use of military force would be strategic, effective, and short term and promote our national security and stability in the Middle East. I look forward to receiving more information and encourage constituents in District 1 to share their opinions with me on Facebook or by calling into my office, 202-225-5965."
