FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Titus Statement of Sage Grouse Announcement Today Dina Titus, Representative of Nevada’s First Congressional District, released the following statement in response to the announcement by Secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewel, on the future of the greater sage grouse: “As Westerners we know that no challenge is too great to overcome,” said Rep. Dina Titus. “Through hard work and cooperation, a coalition of representatives from conservation communities, ranching, and mining industries, and concerned citizens has created a playbook that will guide the protection of this iconic western bird and its habitat while allowing for continued economic development across the region. Congress must now follow suit and do away with the harmful sequester cuts, which only inhibits the federal land management agencies from carrying out their responsibilities to maintain our public lands and prevent the loss of habitat from devastating wildfires.” ### |
