Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today on the U.S. Department of Energy’s announcement of the dates for two public meetings to be held in Nevada on nuclear waste shipments:

“I’m pleased the Department of Energy plans to visit Southern Nevada and hold public forums to answer questions from the members of our community most affected by the shipment plans. Since I first heard about the shipment of U233 to the Nevada National Security Site last spring, I have stressed the importance of open communication and transparency. These hearings will give Southern Nevadans an opportunity to have their voices heard and concerns addressed.”
