Titus Statement on FBI and NSA Directors’ Comments on Trump

March 20, 2017
FBI Director James Comey announced that President Donald Trump is under investigation. NSA Director Michael Rogers and Comey both stated that there is no evidence the Obama administration "wiretapped" President Trump.

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement on the testimony of FBI Director James Comey and NSA Director Michael Rogers in the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. During the hearing, the directors disclosed that the FBI is investigating President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia and repudiated the claims that he was wiretapped by President Barack Obama.

“Today’s hearing reaffirmed that the Russians hacked our election to influence results and revealed that the FBI is investigating the president’s ties to the Kremlin,” Rep. Titus said. “It’s time for GOP leaders in Congress to get serious about probing the potential ties between President Trump and Russia by commencing a bipartisan commission to further explore the possibility of collusion. The American people deserve to know the truth and cannot trust Trump to reveal the facts.

“In addition, President Trump has desperately tried to distract the American public about Russia by frantically tweeting that President Obama wiretapped him. Directors Comey and Rogers rejected those inflammatory and absurd assertions. President Trump must disown his prior comments and apologize for his dangerous behavior.”
