Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today on the Supreme Court ruling in King v. Burwell which struck down the politically-motivated lawsuit challenging the Affordable Care Act (ACA) provision authorizing federal tax credits for consumers who receive ACA insurance coverage through the Federally Facilitated Marketplaces.

“I am pleased that the Supreme Court ruled against this politically motivated lawsuit which threatened to strip millions of men and women of their coverage, undermine our healthcare system, and raise premiums for all Americans. In promoting the King v. Burwell lawsuit, Republicans were attempting to do through the courts what they have been unable to do in Congress –dismantle the Affordable Care Act. The text, structure, and history of the law make clear that the intent was to provide tax credits for all qualified individuals whether they live in states with their own exchanges or in states with access to the federal exchange. It is the pillar of ensuring affordable care for all Americans.”
