Titus Statement on Scotus Declining to Intervene in Daca Case

February 26, 2018
The Supreme Court's decision is only a temporary victory.

February 26, 2018

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene in the Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California, a case to decide the legality of DACA.

“While this decision is welcome news for the short term, it still leaves DREAMers hanging in the balance. Instead of waiting for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to act, Congress must end the uncertainty for 800,000 who call the U.S. home by passing the DREAM Act. My Democratic colleagues and I have used parliamentary measures on at least 23 occasions this Congress to try to force a vote on the bill. But House GOP leadership has killed those efforts every single time. Republicans must stop treating immigrants like political pawns and recognize their roles as business owners, students, doctors, soldiers, taxpayers, and a valuable part of the community that deserves to live out of the shadows.”
