Today we pause to mourn the 3,000 lives lost 16 years ago. September 11, 2017 Las Vegas – Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement to observe the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. “Today we pause to mourn the 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. The attacks left deep wounds in our hearts and communities, but they did not compromise our resolve as a nation. First responders, airline passengers, soldiers, and ordinary citizens answered the call to action and emerged as heroes in the days and years following the attacks. “Their selflessness and sacrifice are why today we recognize September 11th as the National Day of Service and Remembrance. As we grieve for the families of those who were lost on September 11th, there is no better way to honor victims than by giving back to our nation and rekindling the spirit of unity, allegiance, and duty that sprang from the attacks. By paying it forward, we pay homage to the victims of those heinous attacks.” |
