Today Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in opposition to HR 1314, Trade Act of 2015, and HR 644, Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act June 12, 2015 Today Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in opposition to HR 1314, Trade Act of 2015, and HR 644, Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act: “When done properly, expanded trade can create good-paying jobs, strengthen our middle class, and grow our economy. But history shows that without strong protections in place, trade deals tilt the playing field in favor of big corporations at the expense of American workers. Past trade agreements have failed to uphold key environmental protections and labor standards abroad leading to significant job loss and falling wages here at home. Instead of fast-tracking another trade deal that hurts working families, let’s pump the brakes and stop repeating the mistakes of the past.” |
