Washington, D.C. – Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement after David Wright testified in the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Wright has been nominated by the Trump Administration to serve on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the agency responsible for licensing Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository.

“Nuclear Regulatory Commission nominee David Wright has a long history of pushing the Yucca Mountain agenda, both in the public and private sector. If confirmed, Mr. Wright will no doubt be a leading advocate for shoving the nation’s nuclear waste down the throats of Nevadans. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to reject his nomination and admonish the President to select individuals for the NRC who will be open minded about the need to safely and responsibly store high-level waste with the consent of those directly affected.”
