April 30, 2014 Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs will allocate 20 additional employees to the Las Vegas Benefits Office, increasing the staff from 15 to 35 employees. The additional employees will focus on processing disability rating claims for veterans and reducing the claims backlog.
“For more than a year, I have been calling on the VA to increase their presence in Southern Nevada, home to more than 150,000 veterans,” said Titus. “This was the primary focus of a hearing my subcommittee held in Las Vegas, and I am happy it yielded results. I am pleased that the VA has heeded my calls and will be more than doubling the number of staff dedicated to processing claims in Las Vegas. I look forward to continuing to work with them to better serve veterans in Southern Nevada.”
