KLAS: Bill introduced in Congress to provide free at-home COVID-19 tests

Representatives from Nevada, Virginia, New York, and Hawaii have introduced the “Free At-Home Tests for All Act” which would require the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to “purchase in bulk a sufficient quantity of rapid tests for SARS–CoV–2 to provide two such tests per week to every resident of the United States,” and to distribute those tests free of charge.

Today Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced the winners of the 2021 Congressional App Challenge. Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, the Congressional App Challenge is an academic competition to inspire and promote innovation in the fields of science, technology engineering, the arts, and math (STEM).

Rep. Titus Applauds USDA Rule Protecting Animals During Disasters

Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District, Chair of the House Subcommittee on Emergency Management, released the following statement in response to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) releasing a final rule implementing provisions of Rep. Titus’s PREPARED Act, bipartisan legislation which requires entities regulated under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) to create, implement, and file contingency plans with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for protecting animals in their care during emergency or disaster situations. Rep. Titus secured the language as part of the FY 2021 Appropriations bill which was enacted on December 27, 2020.
