Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in response to the settlement announced today by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Justice that secures $1.1 billion in funds to cleanup a former chemical manufacturing site in Henderson, Nevada:
“I applaud the efforts of EPA and DOJ in securing this settlement. These funds go a long way in addressing the health and environmental concerns from decades of perchlorate manufacturing in Henderson. Roughly 30 million people rely on the waters of the Colorado River for drinking water, business, and agriculture. Addressing legacy pollutants such as the Kerr McGee site helps protect the health and well-being of millions in Southern Nevada and communities to our south.”
