Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in response to Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki’s resignation:

“From the battlefields of Vietnam to the halls of the VA, Secretary Shinseki has dedicated his life to serving our country. Under his leadership, the VA has decreased homelessness among veterans, expanded services for women and veterans exposed to Agent Orange, dramatically reduced the benefits backlog, and improved mental health care for veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Sadly, these achievements have become overshadowed by the grievous failures in management and patient care within the VA system. Our veterans deserve the best care possible; anything less is unacceptable. Now is the time to move forward, address the systemic failures in the Veterans Health Administration, and refocus our efforts on fully restoring veterans’ trust in our VA system.”
