The Reopen Schools Safely Act is companion legislation to a bill introduced by Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and co-sponsored by Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Doug Jones (D-AL).

Representatives Dina Titus (NV-1), Brian Mast (FL-18), Ted Lieu (CA-33), and Vern Buchanan (FL-16) responded to the recent report released by the Office of Inspector General at the Department of Veterans Affairs entitled, “The Veterans Health Administration Did Not Get Secretary’s Approval Before Using Canines for Medical Research.” In December of 2018, the Members of Congress asked Inspector General Michael Missal to conduct the investigation.
