Casino.org: Titus Hopes Apprenticeship Bill Designed to Help Hotels and Casinos Can Pass in Senate

US Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nevada) successfully inserted a provision to include the hospitality industry in the program. That provision had broad industry support. That included Culinary Workers Local 226, the primary union representing casino workers in Las Vegas. It also received support from such industry trade groups as the US Travel Association and the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District, the co-chair of the Congressional Travel and Tourism Caucus, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to pass the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021, which includes an amendment she drafted to create apprenticeships in the hospitality and tourism industry

LVRJ: CSN awarded $6.9M federal grant for workforce training facility

Rep. Titus wrote a letter in support of the grant in February 2020, saying the new facility will serve approximately 450 students annually and “will train the unemployed, under-employed, and yet-to-be employed citizens within and well beyond the Historic Westside for entry-level careers in advanced manufacturing, health care, information technology, and the construction trades.”
